No space behind the seats in a 2024 US Ranger Raptor

With the Ranger Raptor now being delivered to the first customers in the United States, there’s a few changes that have not been seen previously in Australia and other countries. The most notable of these is the introduction of the second generation Premium Audio system, identified easily by the presence of a large, “ported” type sub woofer behind the rear seats.

Previously it was possible to fit a dual battery system behind the rear seats in a Ranger Raptor or other Ranger with the first generation Premium Audio system, but that’s no longer possible with the second generation.

The second generation audio system also utilises a different amplifier. Whilst still fitted on the opposite side to the jack, it’s no longer recessed into the carpet panel and is instead mounted on some new bracketry, holding it close to the seat base.

Will a Dual Battery System Fit?

Currently there seems to be no way of fitting a dual battery system behind the seat in a vehicle with the second generation premium audio system. The first generation system made it tricky, with only the Custom Lithium and iTech 100Ah batteries fitting between the speaker and seat base brackets, but now even those small batteries wont fit.

Dual Battery Options

With the dual battery system unable to fit behind the rear seats and no space under the bonnet, the only remaining option is in the rear of the vehicle – Just like the Ranger’s Amarok brother.

Fortunately we have a range of dual battery mounting brackets that fit in the rear of the vehicle, with options available for most leading brands of battery box.
